Good evening my faithful Minions! As you read last week, I recently watched Trick ‘r Treat for the first time and loved every second of it. Ever since then, little Sam has been begging to come alive. Over the weekend I had the opportunity to grant his wish. Please come along and see how this character came about.
Scarydad Project: The Glort
Lil’ Hot Rod
Just a quick post tonight but I wanted to tell you about something.
While we were waiting for the paint to dry on the fairy door, Spawn of Scarydad and I decided to make a little car. I cut out the body and the axles, she chose the paint colors. We both sanded and prepped the parts, and we both painted. Now, in the spirit of anonymity I cannot share these videos with you because unfortunately the little one was not wearing her mask. But I assure you she helped a lot.
It’s almost more rewarding to watch her play with a toy we made together than with one I made for her by myself.
Anyway, just thought you might like to know.
Scarydad Project: Fairy Door
Scarydad Project: Texas Flag
Good evening my friends. As I told you the other day, Bride and I have been reworking the lawn situation over here at Fort Scarydad.
At a festival a few weeks back I saw something I liked that being sold for a price I didn’t like. So I naturally took a closer look to see if and how I could make one myself.
By the way, I live in Texas where luckily we have a cool flag. If you live in a non-cool flag-having state, you are free to find another project to do.
Scarydad Essentials
Good evening once again my good and faithful Minions! I trust you are well. Tonight I will discuss a few items that are essential to the Scarydad supply list. There are definitely the obvious ones like hammers, saws, and a freezer full of skin. But if you don’t have those things already you might be just a little behind. No, these are some of the things that have proven completely indispensable over the years and have proven their worth by either running out, getting lost, or something so that I notice and terribly miss their presence, or worse, cause projects to remain incomplete until replacements arrive.
So, without further ado, the first Scarydad essentials list:
Weekend project: Raised Garden Beds
Hello there my Minions!!! I know it’s been a few days since my last post and last week’s posts were half-assed at best. I know this, and it’s not because I don’t love you. It’s because for several days there I was sicker than pickled dog turds and the effort involved in doing anything but praying for death was too much for me to handle. Then when I did feel better I didn’t have much to talk about because I didn’t have anything I had been working on like I normally do. Then there was trying to catch up on normal day-to-day life and work stuff, so I was a bit out of the loop last week. It’s okay though because I have already forgiven myself.
So, what are we working on now? I’m glad you asked. You see, I’ve wanted to grow a backyard garden for as long as I can remember. I love the smell of soft, moist earth as well as the flavor of homegrown vegetables and herbs. Well, this past weekend I enlisted the help of a friend and we got two large garden beds built. And because I love you so much, I took occasional breaks to snap pictures so I could share the project.
Make your own creepy decor.
So I was perusing some retail websites looking for something interesting and possibly creepy to decorate the lab and shop. Most of what I found was pretty expensive for a place that is constantly full of floating sawdust and corpse particles. I had just about given up when it struck me like a shillelagh to the noggin that I actually run a website where I make things myself. Duh!
So, I changed focus, went over to Vintage Printable and set about betterizing my shop and lab.
Wanna see how I did it?
A very tall gift for my (coming soon) neice
So in the not too distant future I’m going to be an uncle. This is awesome because little Spawn will grow up with her cousin much in the same way I grew up with some of mine, which was a very fun way to be a kid.
My sister (who come to think of it I’ve called ScaryCarrie for 20 years) is going to be a mom and she set about decorating the baby’s room in a woodland theme.
I wanted to make something special for everyone and so began to think of things I could do. The more I thought, the more I imagined the picture you see above. However, I don’t think I realized my inspiration until I was done with the project.
I had ideas, you see…
Things I like a lot lately
Not much to explain, really. The following links are to podcasts and sites that I am really enjoying right now and I thought you might enjoy them too. Check them out, then let me know your favorite sites and sounds in the comments.
Okay then, in no particular order:
