While I allow the current coat of paint to dry on my Jack Skellington project, I figured I’d do a little early Christmas shopping for myself. For those of you in an I-want-to-buy-stuff-for-Scarydad mood, here is my latest list of desired loot. We start of tonight with this, The Nightmare Before Christmas: 20th Anniversary Edition. This is the original short story/poem that Tim Burton wrote that later became the stop-motion animation classic we all know and love. I can’t believe it’s already been 20 years. I remember, I guess it had to be around 20 years ago. My buddy Chris and I were talking and I asked him whet he had planned for the weekend and he said, “I think we’re going to check out that Nightmare Before Christmas movie.”
Damn. That makes me feel really old.
Old though I may be, I still enjoy the simple act of collecting and using deadly weapons of all sorts. A couple weeks ago I acquired a bow and some arrows and as the summer moves further into fall I’ll be in the back yard flinging arrows at beer cans and water jugs and totally not shooting at the neighbors’ cats. Once I’ve mastered archery (read- shoot well and often enough to justify the expense) I plan to add this Crossbow to my arsenal. If The Walking Dead has taught us anything it’s that everyone in the world loves a dude with a crossbow. I want to be a dude with a crossbow.
Next up is this Ouija Cutting Board. I don’t know. I just wanted to see what might happen after you’ve infused the wood with the blood of various animals. Then I realized that this one was made of glass. Quite a bit less sinister but cleans up in a snap!
And finally tonight, I want the Skeletor Power Sword Letter Opener. I’ve always been fond of the bad guys and Skeletor is my all-time favorite. Well, maybe not favorite, but, well, he looks the coolest anyway. The best part? It’s manufacturer recommends it for ages 18 months to 8 years. So although I’m outside of the recommended age range for owning a sharpened piece of metal, I’m sure I can order it for one of my friends’ toddlers and then borrow it from time to time.
