Hello Minions. Your master is unwell; sick with some sort of plague. I’ve raided my labs and consumed every elixir to no avail. I must rest. In my absence, please enjoy the following moving pictures. Good night.
Scary Movie Night: The Woman in Black
Good evening. Tonight’s feature is a good scary movie that should keep your feet under the covers all night long. Let me tell you about The Woman in Black.
Videos to keep you from sleeping
Good evening.
We are cooking up a few special things here at the labs. I spent the weekend scouring graveyards and hardware stores for the necessary supplies for my next creation. In the meantime, please enjoy these videos and remember that the thing under the bed is probably not as scared of you as you are of it.
Summer Reading: The Graveyard Book
Summer is nearing its blessed end but you still have time for a couple more.
Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book is the story of Bod Owens, the little boy who lives in the cemetery. Bod is looked after by various ghosts and spirits who haunt the graveyard and protect him from the Jack, the man who killed his parents.
Although The Graveyard Book is intended for children, Gaiman’s storytelling deserves to be enjoyed by all. He is the Scarydad’s favorite author and so I am almost forced to command you to read all of his books. But definitely read this one. I can’t guarantee you’ll like it, but I’m pretty darn sure.
H.P. Lovecraft
On this date in 1890 a pioneer of modern horror was born.
Today is the birthday of H.P. Lovecraft.
More videos to keep you from sleeping
I ran across this video tonight. I realize there’s a lot of Titanic retrospective stuff out lately with the centennial anniversary, but this one stood out and I was pleasantly surprised. Truly haunting.
Videos to keep you from sleeping!
According you Youtube, the most authentic ghost footage of all time. A family records some ghosts that look very real to me.
Introducing: The Morrigan
Hello Minions, I hope all is well.
This has been a very busy week for your friendly neighborhood Scarydad. As you know, earlier this week we got our killer new logo delivered earlier than expected and it so far exceeded expectations I actually released the artist from the dungeon. I guess I could have left him down there but I might need him for future projects and I couldn’t trust that he would keep.
As if that weren’t enough, today we are proud to introduce a new member to our coven.
Everyone please welcome The Morrigan.
The Scarydad Logo: IT’S ALIVE!!!
If you didn’t notice before, we here at Scarydad.com have a new logo!
And it’s freakin’ SWEET!!!
Here it is again in case you missed it:
Isn’t that AWESOME?
We are now properly branded. Coming soon will be shirts and stickers and other site swag. In the meantime, stand in awe of this marvelous design.
If you like what you see, contact my friend Bill –>HERE<— and let him perform some artistic alchemy for you too.
Here’s the logo again, just one more time:
Thanks Bill, you’ve outdone yourself!
(And the check’s in the mail…)
My Old Haunted Place
It all started back in 2001. I had been looking for a place in the center of town, closer to work and favorite hangouts. My sister had also recently moved to town and we were going to be roommates to try to save some cash. We were having trouble, however, because earlier in the year Tropical Storm Allison came through and flooded the city. Apartments were in short supply while people were having their houses repaired. But, I eventually found a realtor that dealt in independent leasing and she showed us the place.
It was perfect. It was the whole bottom floor of a HUGE duplex built back in the 20’s. The area of Houston I was looking in had been the ultra-rich suburbs when the house was built, and you could tell this had once been very nice digs. It was 1000 square feet with dark hardwood floors and trim, large bedrooms, a butler’s pantry, a dining room, a den, and very high ceilings. It also had a yard with a garage and a huge front patio. All for $825 a month!
We began moving in the next day…
