Scarydad Project: Flying Yard Ghosts

Ghost

Good evening my beloved. Tonight I will show you how to make floating ghosts for your yard haunt. These are very simple to make and have a very cool floating/flying effect when the wind blows. Here’s how to make them:

Scarydad Project: Fence Bats

Bats

Good evening. Tonight’s project is very inexpensive, but very clever. I guarantee everyone will be impressed with this one. When Bride hatched the plan, I was pretty impressed myself. It also only takes 5-10 minutes to make these. All you need is  a sharpie, scissors, a stapler, and some trash bags.

The Secret Origin of Scarydad

Origin Story

Who is this irresistible creature who has an insatiable love for the dead?

Have you ever wondered how a somewhat normal husband and father became the demigod you all know and love? Did you know that before the madness and the scars that Scarydad was a lot like you? Well, I was.

Gather close my Minions. Tonight I will share with you the series of events that gave the world your favorite mad blogger, taken from the journals of the person I once was:

Make a Scarecrow on the cheap

Scarecrow

Good evening my friends! Tonight I will show you how to construct a wonderfully inexpensive little scarecrow for your yard haunt but first I must thank The Morrigan for stepping up in a time of crisis. You see, your friendly neighborhood Scarydad was attempting to revive something he found in the road and he learned that more electricity is not always the answer to an unresponsive specimen. My electronic portal to your world was temporarily shut down until after “sometime between 12 & 5 PM.”

That portal has been reopened so let’s get to work, shall we?

Tuesday Picdump

Hello there, dear readers. I hope you are all having a great Tuesday! I just got word that due to an evil experiment gone wrong Scarydad will not be able to deliver a post this evening. We all know how you’ve got to be careful when playing with dead things and electricity! Hopefully he will be able to work out the kinks and get everything back to it’s usual self. (Or, that things will come aliiiiiive and be even more awesome than before.)

So, until then, enjoy these pictures:

Congratulations to two wonderful people!

Hello Minions, you may have noticed that the site was a bit quiet over the weekend. That’s because I had the honor of taking part in my best good friend’s wedding. We drank, we laughed, we drank some more, and then we had some drinks. Toasts, drinks, drinks, and more drinks occurred all afternoon and evening Friday and Saturday, with a slight pause for the actual ceremony. Scarydad believes he actually died sometime over the weekend because it’s impossible to feel this crappy and still be alive.

But, dead or alive, I’m back at the keyboard and will have some new tutorials for you later this evening or tomorrow.

And congratulations to Chris and Amy. Y’all done good.

Scarydad Project: Gravestones

Tim Burton Gravestone

Good day my faithful Minions! Isn’t the weather wonderful? Well, Bride of Scarydad made me promise to wait until October before setting up the yard haunt. Man, I have so many projects it’s going to take the better part of October to get it all set up! I suppose if I put out a little bit every day I won’t have to hire a mutant. But then again, there is all the fun that comes with having a mutant hanging around for a few days…

I’ll keep my options open.

Meanwhile, behind the facade of this innocent looking suburban home, I have been creating pure mayhem. And gravestones. Mayhem and gravestones, yes indeed. Click the “Read More” button and I’ll show you how I did it!

It’s Decoration Time!!!

Halloween

September is gone and so is summer! It’s time for pumpkins, skulls, witches, and vampires! It’s time to choose costumes and decorate our haunts! It’s the most wonderful time of the year! It’s OCTOBER!!!

I was able to get part one of what I hope will be a massive yard haunt up yesterday. The images are still being drying in the dark room, so we must be patient. In the coming days I will guide you through the process and show you how to make many fun things.

Oh, I’m so excited I could just KILL someone!

(And I have just the perfect place for the body!)

Wednesday Picdump

Scary

Hello Minions. I am so very busy building my yard haunt, decorating the inside of my caverns, and choosing costumes for myself, Bride, and Spawn. The time just keeps slipping into the future and we have so many events, parties, and projects lined up for the next several weeks. I am constantly filling my camera with images to inspire and terrify you, so be sure to check back daily for the latest Scarydad project. It’s time again for your weekly picture dump. As always, please submit your pics to scarydad@scarydad.com for a chance at internet immortality.

Enjoy!

Make a Jack O’ Lantern from a Gourd

Good afternoon! Today I’m going to show you something you can do with a plain, old gourd. I’ll admit I didn’t make this one; I bought it last year at the Scarecrow Festival. But these little guys are easily Bride’s and my favorite of our Halloween decorations, even of the ones I’ve made, so I thought I’d show them off!
