Hey there Minions, I know I promised you an item of the week but life has been quite hectic and even I have not been shopping very much. However, I’m ready to change that.
Up for consideration today is the newest DC Animated movie Justice League Dark. You’re familiar with the Justice League but the only character you recognize is Batman, so what’s with the Dark? Justice League Dark is a separate team of magic and supernaturally-powered heroes including the magicians Zatanna and John Constantine, ghost Deadman, Etrigan the Demon, and elemental Swamp Thing, among others. They battle particularly nasty things and it’s a lot of fun to watch.
For those of you who enjoy comics, check out the Justice League Dark trailer. I can’t wait for this! What do you think?

Well, I guess the new Man of Steel movie was pretty good. Or so I’ve heard. Unfortunately I don’t get out to the movies very often these days. It’s something I doubt I’ll be able to remedy any time soon as I’m about to double up on my no time for movie watchingness. It’s a rough life.
Long before MoS came out the net was a flutter with discussions about Superman and how they were going to make him cool again. They had their gritty Batman, true, but Batman is just one guy to be taking on The Avengers (as a team and as individuals), the X-Men, and Spiderman.

Just what was Warner going to do to make Supes compelling? I haven’t seen the movie so I’m not sure but from the looks of it, I guess they came up with “angsty.” And it’s a big hit and everyone seems happy with it all so I suppose that’s that.
Except it’s not that. What’s going to happen is that they’re going to have to find a way to keep him interesting now to keep the franchise going and to do that someone is going to have to get creative. And what’s the best way to develop a godlike character that’s completely invincible and has an incorruptible morality? Continue reading →
Good evening! Tonight’s post was inspired by this article in which the author argues that Tim Burton is one of several “genius” artists who created his best works by accident. He explains that the “best parts” of Burton’s films are the result of a great performance or an excellent screenwriter or composer, rather than the vision and ability of the director.
And I have to admit that when I saw the trailer for Dark Shadows I thought it was a joke. You mean to tell me that Burton, Johnny Depp, and Helena Bonham Carter are in yet another movie in which Depp plays pale and quirky? No thanks.
And the truth is, the points the blogger makes are valid.
Good evening my beloved Minions. Wow, do we have a lot in store in the coming weeks. It may have seemed a little quiet around here for the past couple of days but in reality I’ve been hard at work making plans for the future of Scarydad. In short, we only have 12 short months until next Halloween. It may seem like a long time, but I launched this site in June. That’s 5 months gone, just like that. I have binders full of ideas for blog posts to keep you entertained and scared.
Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I posted a tribute to Wonder Woman which has since become my most traveled post. I’ve had several requests for similar themed galleries so let’s get started.
