Vintage Photos from New Year’s Eves Past (13)

Hello all Minions. It’s good to be back!

Tonight we’re going to discuss plans and resolutions for 2014 because that’s what I’m doing right now and I could probably use some advice if you have any to give. OK, here goes:

Resolutions

1. Return to reasonable tonnage.

With a pregnant Bride, being hobbled after surgery, and the holidays, I admit I took more victims than I normally would and it caused some of my clothing to fit tighter than it should. This is unacceptable. I shall now only take faster, leaner prey that gives me a bit of a workout in the hunt. And I shall take fewer of them. Damn.

2. Read more books.

Alas, your old friend Scarydad was formerly a voracious consumer of literature. However, the madcap life and the writing and the researching and the projects and the kids and the everything has taken up my time and attention to the point that I barely read one book a month and sometimes not even that much.

Now, to be fair, I do listen to a lot of audio- short story horror and sci-fi podcasts as well as instructional and educational material. But it’s not reading books and reading books is something I love too much to keep on not doing it. So if you have any good recommendations, let me know.

Scarydad website plans for 2014

So here’s where the real rubber meets the road as far as you lovely Minions are concerned. What’s Scarydad going to do for me? Well in addition to not eating more than one of you per night as I promised before, I do have some great plans for the coming year.

1. More Projects!

I’ve been following and posting on a couple of project sites lately and let me tell you I have a list of things to do as long as my arm. I’ve recently retooled the shop and my new beer fridge should arrive any day so I don’t have do go very far from my bench to acquire sweet, sweet booze. We had a lot of projects last year. This year I want to do more.

2. More Contests!

I’m always coming across stuff that I think you guys would like. I collect it all in a special place until it dies then I run social media contests to see who gets it. The last one went very well and I had a lot of fun with it. As soon as things slow down a bit here I’ll do another one and several throughout the year.

3. Site Makeover!

I’ve been talking about this one for a while but every time I think I’m going to do it, something comes up and I end up having to not get around to it. Maybe if I put it here you will hold me to my vow.

4. More reviews

That whole “read more books” thing will help with this.

5. More Weirdness

Longer galleries, more social media pics. You know we’re not just on Facebook and by the way, FB has gone to great lengths lately to make it harder for you to see the stuff we post. They want me to pay them to let you see the stuff you told them you want to see already by clicking the ‘like’ button. I don’t think that’s right. But if you want more Scarydad we have active Pinterest, Twitter, and Tapiture pages. I also have an Etsy shop with nothing in it at the moment. I guess it’s time to get to work.
