Not much to explain, really. The following links are to podcasts and sites that I am really enjoying right now and I thought you might enjoy them too. Check them out, then let me know your favorite sites and sounds in the comments.
Okay then, in no particular order:
Under Your Bed
The first selection this evening is Under Your Bed: A Horror Podcast. In each episode, host Bren Murphy brings on a guest to enjoy a beverage and discuss his or her favorite three horror films. It’s entertaining to listen to people who are obvious fans of the genre sometimes practically gushing over certain scenes, effects, or performances. It’s also pretty funny to hear them discuss the difficulty in trying to find 3 movies that are not The Shining, The Exorcist, or Halloween; as those three films are in everyone’s top 5. The attitude is light and fun and even the most serious critical analysis is really just a couple of friends chatting over a beer. (Which is when the best critical discussions happen, in my opinion.)
This is one of those podcasts that I get excited about when I see a new episode is available for download, and new episodes come out pretty regularly too so I never have to wait that long. You should definitely check it out.
Survival Punk
Next we have Survival Punk. This site is unlike a lot of instructional sites in that the Survival Punk publishes everything he does, not just successes. He explains an idea, logs the progress, and publishes the results, unafraid to deem an idea a failure or discuss ideas for what went wrong and what to do to make it better in the future. He covers a wide variety of subject matter from cooking to firearms to frugality and even how to make your own logo t-shirts. And quite honestly, the Survival Punk reminds me a lot of myself and what’s not to love about me, right?
Seriously, though, I have quite a few failed projects that never made it to my blog because that’s not how I roll. Survival Punk is causing me to reevaluate some of those old projects and see what I might do to resurrect a few because hey, it might just work and who cares if it doesn’t? And I think that’s pretty damn cool.
Boys and Ghouls
Next on the list is the delightful Boys and Ghouls Podcast, “a horror movie podcast hosted by a warm and engaging duo.” On the 13th of each month, hosts Marshall and Kat discuss a wide variety of horror films from the well-known to the obscure. An episode generally centers around a horror movie theme such as Revenge, Christmas, etc. The show is very well done, with special effects, clips, and samples from films dispersed throughout. Marshall and Kat play well together and you can tell they are having a blast discussing their favorite movies.
The Museum of Ridiculously Interesting Things
And finally this evening we have The Museum of Ridiculously Interesting Things. What to say about this website…
Well, for one it’s ridiculously interesting.
I have spent hours reading articles, clicking links and staring at pictures on this site that, to me, is truly addictive. Come look at all this weird, macabre, and bizarre stuff and tell me if you don’t get trapped in the museum yourself. The entire internet should be this cool.
Well, that’s it for today. What are some of your favorite websites (other than mine, of course)?
