How I got the prettiest girl in the room

It wasn’t anything I could have expected, that’s for sure. Life had done a number on me earlier that year and all my energy had been going to merely keeping rent paid and the lights on in my old haunted place. Little did I know that the (somewhat irresponsible) decision to duck into a bar and have a quick beer would change my life forever…

Wednesday Picdump: Best of 2012

im-backGOOD EVENING MY BELOVED, BEAUTIFUL, AND EVER-FAITHFUL MINIONS!

You can rest uneasily tonight because I am back. The holiday season was one of much revelry, drinking, mirth-making, and merriment and a very much needed break from just about everything. But I am recharged, happy, and whole again, ready to tear 2013 a new one. Seriously. I have some great things in development for this site.

But first, I felt compelled to review some of the highlights of 2012. Sometimes as I create a picture dump certain pictures stand out and I copy them to a separate folder for further review. I went back through that folder today as I was archiving some material and decided to share its contents with you. These are, in my opinion, the best of the picdump photos of 2012.

As always, if you like what you see please Like us on Facebook, and Follow us on Twitter and Pinterest. Links to our pages are on the right of your screen —–>

Also, be sure to submit your own pictures, stories, and project ideas to me at scarydad@scarydad.com

Happy New Year everyone and thanks for coming around.

Stay Tuned for a Very Special Episode of Scarydad

When I was 7 years old I got a guitar for Christmas. I took about 3 lessons and learned a couple of chords before it went into the closet never to be seen again. But that’s not right. I saw it often. I would pull it out and play around with it, decide it was too hard again and put it away. All the while wishing that I could play a guitar.

The Scarydad.com 100th Episode Extravaganza!

Good evening my beautiful Beloved! Tonight we pass an important milestone in the history of your favorite Halloween, Horror, and Do-It-Yourself project blog. This is our 100th blog post since we launched the site on June 23, 2012. Can you believe it? Less than 5 months and already 100 episodes. Honestly, I’m a bit surprised I’ve been able to accomplish this. You will soon know why as we run through a year in the life of your old pal Scarydad.

Fight Censorship

Scary StoriesWarning, this post contains the following: profanity, anger, logic, & adult situations. If you or someone you might have met one time are not able to handle the things listed above, you need to leave now.

Good evening Minions. I posted my find on Twitter last week so for some of you this is old news. For the rest, I found all three volumes of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark by Alvin Schwartz with illustrations by Stephen Gammell at Half-Priced Books for about $2.00 each. This is a good thing for too many reasons, not the least of which is that these books are flippin’ awesome!

I bought all three and scoured the store for any more. Unfortunately, mine were the only available, though I will keep an eye out in the future.

These books were scary as shit when I was a kid and I loved them.

But did you hear…

Probably My Scariest Story

Good evening Minions. Recent events have awakened horrible memories and I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep tonight unless I share them with you. Oh, the pain and the misery. Tonight I share the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced. Scarier than living in a haunted house. Scarier than sleeping in a haunted hotel. No, this experience trumps both in terms of sheer terror.

Tonight I tell you the story of the time…

Wednesday Picdump

scary

Good evening my Beloved. Tonight we return you to your regularly scheduled picdump. Your Scarydad is busy writing about what you need to do to avoid getting eaten by zombies so I won’t bore you with a lot of conversation tonight. Except to say this: Please submit pictures and story ideas to scarydad@scarydad.com. Follow us on Twitter and Like us on Facebook. We have Pinterest and Tapiture accounts too.

Link up and tell all your friends about the darkhorse website that your parents despise but that’s won your heart and that you’re going to marry. Tell them to join us if they ever want to see daylight again. Tell them that, then ask them if this rag smells like chloroform. If they fall over, that’s normal. Don’t even worry about it. Everything is going to be all right.
