I get on these kicks where I’ll be suddenly interested in something I never really cared about before, then completely absorb it all in one go. Not too long ago I picked up an Edgar Rice Burroughs anthology and just had so much fun I had to share.
Burroughs wrote in the time before all our fancy space ships and satellites. He imagined worlds of adventure and romance and populated those worlds with larger than life characters you just can’t help but love. The stories are fast-paced and action-packed and guaranteed to please.
But please remember that these books are written to be entertaining and fun. If you’re one of those who likes to point out that lions don’t live in jungles and Mars doesn’t have warring factions of red and green men, you might want to skip these, because there’s a lot of that kind of stuff. Otherwise, the link above is for about 12 books for two dollars. It’s definitely worth it.
