IMG_3520 Good evening my faithful Minions! As you read last week, I recently watched Trick ‘r Treat for the first time and loved every second of it. Ever since then, little Sam has been begging to come alive. Over the weekend I had the opportunity to grant his wish. Please come along and see how this character came about.

Trick r Treat I started out with a yard of burlap. some leftover PVC scraps and joints, string, glue, et cetera. I also went to the thrift store and got a set of toddler pajamas.Trick r Treat You’ll notice those jammies are white instead of orange so we had to dye them the correct color. Trick r Treat Then I had to turn the feet around so that the button snaps were in the back instead of the front.Trick r Treat I cut and sewed on his patches and then built my PVC frame.Trick r Treat I measured the burlap using the foam ball, then sewed the mask. I probably could have saved some time with glue but I’m a perfectionist that way. All of the doll’s accessories are sewn by hand.Trick r Treat Trick r Treat Trick r Treat I then folded and sewed his treat bag and attached it with a piece of wire.Trick r Treat Almost done…Trick r Treat I used a length of wire and made a hand so he could hold his sucker.Trick r Treat Masking tape and a bit of scrap burlap worked well for his hand and glove.Trick r Treat I made his sucker out of a bit of scrap wood. When the paint dried I wrapped his hand around the stick, clamped it tight, then attached the hand to the body.Trick r TreatSam stands at about 2 feet high and has already frightened Bride of Scarydad so much that he’s been banished to the garage. Mission accomplished!
