On this date in 1890 a pioneer of modern horror was born.
Today is the birthday of H.P. Lovecraft.
Scarydad happened upon Lovecraft way back in the day and has always been a fan. Although wordy and weird, his stories have a way of pulling you in and keeping you mesmerized until the end. And strangely enough, they keep you reading even though they most often have unhappy endings. No, Lovecraft stories often leave the reader feeling soggy and cold and just a little less sure of reality than before.
I know it’s late and the day is almost over but I couldn’t let the midnight hour arrive without paying tribute to one of my idols.
