Interview with Marshall and Kat from the Boys and Ghouls Podcast!!!

We have a very special episode tonight.

See, in my alter-ego role as “responsible adult,” I do a job that requires a lot of driving. A LOT of driving. And I’ve been doing what I do for more than a decade so as you can imagine, rock blocks, morning DJ banter, and talk radio all hit my last nerve about nine years ago.

Thank ye Gods for the internet!

Because of this magical entity I can reach out to the ether and pull material ’til my evil heart’s content. I can listen to audio books, college lectures, old radio shows, etc. One of the shows I really enjoy is the Boys and Ghouls podcast. The hosts, Marshall and Kat choose a topic, typically a sub-genre or theme of horror film and discuss several films within the topic. I really enjoy their show and I was really excited when they agreed to an interview:

Scarydad News, Updates, and More

Hello there all my wonderful minions!

Well, July is almost gone and that certain trick of the light is there to tell us that Fall will soon be here. I cannot wait. The shop has been essentially shuttered since early June because it is simply impossible to work. I sweat so much the tools slip from my hands. And all the experiments are grumpy too. No good.

I did get one of these Skeletor Vinyl Figures and he’s about as cool as he looks.

And if you haven’t already, you need to get over to Southern Gothica and order one of Amber’s custom felt dolls. I got one of them and I can say that the quality is nothing short of amazing.

In other news, I’ve been working on a couple of stories. One was supposed to be a short story but it kind of got out of hand so I have to see where it goes. Another is a children’s story that isn’t scary but is pretty fun. As soon as I’m finished with it I will be looking for an illustrator, so if you know somebody please forward me their information.

Well, that’s about it for tonight. Tomorrow we have a really great interview with Marshall and Kat from the Boys and Ghouls Podcast, so please make sure you catch that.

Interview: Chris from Austin Hot Mods

Hello there my good and faithful Minions! I hope all is well.

Today we are going to do something just a little different. As some of you know I spent many a magical night on stage as a founding member of the costumed super group Thunderpants here in Houston. Although I no longer play out anymore, I still enjoy a good jam session from time to time.

Well, a friend of mine recently started a side business modifying foot pedals for guitar players at an affordable price. And though his interests are not exactly horror-themed, he is a fellow maker and I think what he’s doing is really cool. So over the weekend I sat down with Chris from Austin Hot Mods to see what this whole thing is about.

And with that, please welcome Chris from Austin Hot Mods.

I Want This.

Creature from the Black Lagoon

A little short tonight but all wanted nonetheless: The very first “I Want This” post was me talking about the Mezco Frankenstein Monster figure. Now they make a super cool Creature from the Black Lagoon Figure too. That’s badass.

Munsters

I have seen a few individual Munsters figures before but yesterday I came across The Munsters Black and White Figure Set and decided it was cooler than any of the others and it belongs on my shelf. Now if they’d do the same with The Addams Family I’d be supremely happy.

scarydad.comI’ve always been partial to Gibson guitars but this Bela Lugosi “Tales From the Grave” Limited Edition Electric Guitar with Hardshell Coffin Case could convince me to switch to ESP. This is just gorgeous.

Guest Interview: Amber from Southern Gothica

Tonight we have a guest post from Victoria over at The Autodidact in the Attic. Victoria likes all kinds of really cool stuff and she scours the internet for said cool stuff and talks about it on her site. When you’re done reading this post and buying dolls from Amber, click the links above and below and check it out.

So, without further ado, here’s the interview with Amber at Southern Gothica by V. L. Craven:

There are loads of talented gothy-types out there, but occasionally, you come across someone who’s extra-talented and a little extra-gothy, as well. Amber, who runs Southern Gothica on Etsy, is one such person. She hand-sews 10″ rag dolls of all of your favourite characters–from classics like Frankenstein’s Bride and the Mummy to sure-to-please goths like bats, Wednesday Addams & Eddie Munster to pop icons like Eric Draven from The Crow, the members of Dethklok and Severus Snape. As soon as I came across her shop I had to contact this person and request an interview. Happily, she agreed to answer some questions:
