Hello my fine feathered Minions. I realize it’s been a while since we talked. I assure you I haven’t forgotten you. We’ve had a series of sicknesses followed by events followed by very important thing to do followed by hangovers and chores and such. It’s not that I don’t love you, it’s that even the dead have to sleep sometime.

I also realize it’s been a while since I showed you some of the wonderful items that would make acceptable offerings should you wish to please your master. First up tonight is this Badass Tactical Tomahawk. I’m not sure what I might need one of these for, but I figure if I have it and then discover what I might need it for, that’s better than not having it at all.

Some of you know that I often have guest posts published over at Dumb White Husband.  That’s because the site is awesome and I’m honored to be featured there. Ben, the original dumb white husband wrote a serial about how dumb white husbands deal with the zombie uprising. Dumb White Husbands vs. Zombies: The Zomnibus is the collected parts of the serial. I haven’t read it yet because I’ve had too much on my plate. But if it’s like any of his other books, I know it’ll be hilarious. I’m going to hit Ben up for an autographed copy. The rest of you just click the links and buy books until you run out of money. Do it now. (more…)

NBC20While I allow the current coat of paint to dry on my Jack Skellington project, I figured I’d do a little early Christmas shopping for myself. For those of you in an I-want-to-buy-stuff-for-Scarydad mood, here is my latest list of desired loot. We start of tonight with this, The Nightmare Before Christmas: 20th Anniversary Edition. This is the original short story/poem that Tim Burton wrote that later became the stop-motion animation classic we all know and love. I can’t believe it’s already been 20 years. I remember, I guess it had to be around 20 years ago. My buddy Chris and I were talking and I asked him whet he had planned for the weekend and he said, “I think we’re going to check out that Nightmare Before Christmas movie.”

Damn. That makes me feel really old.

Creature from the Black Lagoon

A little short tonight but all wanted nonetheless: The very first “I Want This” post was me talking about the Mezco Frankenstein Monster figure. Now they make a super cool Creature from the Black Lagoon Figure too. That’s badass.

Munsters

I have seen a few individual Munsters figures before but yesterday I came across The Munsters Black and White Figure Set and decided it was cooler than any of the others and it belongs on my shelf. Now if they’d do the same with The Addams Family I’d be supremely happy.

scarydad.comI’ve always been partial to Gibson guitars but this Bela Lugosi “Tales From the Grave” Limited Edition Electric Guitar with Hardshell Coffin Case could convince me to switch to ESP. This is just gorgeous.

Guest Interview: Amber from Southern Gothica

Tonight we have a guest post from Victoria over at The Autodidact in the Attic. Victoria likes all kinds of really cool stuff and she scours the internet for said cool stuff and talks about it on her site. When you’re done reading this post and buying dolls from Amber, click the links above and below and check it out.

So, without further ado, here’s the interview with Amber at Southern Gothica by V. L. Craven:

There are loads of talented gothy-types out there, but occasionally, you come across someone who’s extra-talented and a little extra-gothy, as well. Amber, who runs Southern Gothica on Etsy, is one such person. She hand-sews 10″ rag dolls of all of your favourite characters–from classics like Frankenstein’s Bride and the Mummy to sure-to-please goths like bats, Wednesday Addams & Eddie Munster to pop icons like Eric Draven from The Crow, the members of Dethklok and Severus Snape. As soon as I came across her shop I had to contact this person and request an interview. Happily, she agreed to answer some questions:

Hello Minions! It’s that time again. Time to show all my wonderful friends a few of the things that would make me so happy if you were to buy for me. As you know, Neil Gaiman is you Scarydad’s favorite writer. Lately I’ve been picking up extras and rarities that have eluded me for whatever reason.  A Little Gold Book of Ghastly Stuff (Little Books) ~ [SIGNED LIMITED EDITION] is one of those rarities. I really want this.

want this today

Good evening my friends. Tonight I have been perusing the online marketplace and adding items to the list of things that please me. We begin tonight with The Count. As many of you know, The Count is and has always been one of my favorite Sesame Street characters. I think this little dude would feel right at home on the shelf next to Jason Voorhees and Pee Wee Herman. It would make my kickass lair all the more kickass.

Hello there everyone. Well, it’s that time again. Time for me to share with you all the awesome stuff that makes the world just a little bit better for your lovable old friend Scarydad. Tonight we begin with one of the best things you can have on your bookshelf: The Complete Calvin and Hobbes. I don’t own the collection but I do have all the old books and I can tell you that this strip only gets better with age. One of the best and most honest social commentaries ever.

Hello Minions, it’s that time again. Time for me to offer suggestions for offerings you may make to your favorite mad blogger as, well, I wouldn’t call it a ransom, per se… I guess I’m just saying that we like to keep Scarydad happy around here and the things on this list would go far toward accomplishing that goal.

Ok, first item up this week: The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Alchemy. Now I’m not one to quibble over the sciences. The experiments I perform are pretty straightforward- I gather parts from graveyards, morgues, junkyards, and thrift stores, throw in a little Elmer’s glue and high voltage, and I’m usually done before dinner. The finer sciences, such as Alchemy, I have always left to the experts. After all, if making lead into gold was easy enough for any idiot to accomplish, I would think it would be a closely guarded secret. Not so, apparently.
