Little Spawn was down for a couple of days and while she was on the couch the two of us marathoned Justice League on Netflix. She got real into Hawkgirl and asked if I could make her a costume for Halloween. Well, we had Comicon coming up shortly too, so I got to work.

IMG_1348 I started by trying to find a pattern online. Unfortunately not many Hawkgirl patters exist, but there are a lot of Wolverines. I printed one out and made it my own.IMG_1349 IMG_1350 Once I had a good pattern, I cut it out of cardboard, then used spray adhesive to attach the felt, then I cut around the pattern.IMG_1351 IMG_1352IMG_1353 I decided to leave the top of the head soft for comfort.  IMG_1357 Then filled the inside with softness…IMG_1358 I added the details and moved on to the mace.IMG_1364 The mace was made with mostly spare parts left over from a recent plumbing project. I grabbed a foam ball and some smaller ones.IMG_1366 I cut the smaller ones in half, then glued them to the bigger one.IMG_1367 IMG_1369 I attached all the pieces with glue, then covered the whole thing in Plasti-Dip, which is spray-on rubber.IMG_1368 IMG_1381 10408727_10203612292226525_6644349143157830809_nWe bought the wings, tights, and the shirt, but the rest is hand made by yours truly. Leave your offerings at the altar, long live Scarydad.
